North Tower

Schiermonnikoog has two lighthouses: the Noordertoren (North Tower) and the Zuidertoren (South Tower). These towers were built simultaneously around 1854. In 1910, the Noordertoren (North Tower) was fitted with a rotating light, making the island recognizable as a single tower, and rendering the Zuidertoren redundant. The red lighthouse has only been on the island since 1998.

This city tower is laser-cut from solid Dutch ash wood. Each tower has a unique look!
